A Typical Kashmiri
Pandit Marriage
Part 7 of 7
|
|
When
the groom reaches the main door of his house the door is being deliberately
shut by the sister of the groom. She asks for favours from his brother
to let him in. The groom , her brother promises every thing in the world
to her to gain the entry and let him and his sweet bride be allowed in.
After getting all promises from her brother, she opens the door and welcomes
her brother and bhabi both with a large affectionate hug to both of them. |
|
|
The
couple is directly led to the kitchen. In olden days both the bride and
the groom were made to sit on the chula what we called "Daan" in Kashmiri.
They are offered the meals by the mother of the groom. |
|
|
The
couple takes the blessings of the elders of the groom's house by bowing
their heads on their feet i.e. "Paran pyon". On the right you are seeing
the woman folk of the house hold and all relatives assembled on the occasion
of " Nosh Anin" sing the folk songs in Kashmiri in praise of the new member
of the family i.e. the newly arrived bride. |
