The
couple is then led to the colourful Rangoli called "Vyug" and are offered
sweets by the mother or grand mother of the bride after "Aalat"
ceremony. This
is a typical Kashmiri custom which is being followed till todate. This is
pointed out here that ladies only are authorised to do this ritual. Gents
can not perform this. |

And
when the groom proceeds for "Dwarpuza" and removes the shoes there is a
scramble for grabbing the same by the children of the bride's side only
to be returned to the groom later of course on premium. |

"Dwarpuza"
is one of the most important ritual which is performed in Kashmiri marriages.
Here father of the bride greets and welcomes the father of the groom officially
in presence of the kulguru what we call as "Kolbrahmun" or in simple words
the guruji. Guruji recites some religious mantras and asks the old duo
to greet each other by hugging. |
|
|
Now
is the time to sit for Lagan the actual marriage ritual. The bride's father
performs puja to the groom by putting flowers on the feet of the groom
and latter taking his hands into his own. During this ritual there is a
constant recital of mantras by the guruji. |
|
|
After
the puja performed by the brides father now it is the turn of bride's
mother to do the same. Flowers are put on both feet, both knees, both shoulders
and finally on the head of the groom and the bride. |
